Khira Arfaoui
Jendouba Governorate
is a teacher, an independent activist and a candidate for the “An-Najah Independent Jendouba” list for
the 2019 legislative elections
“The imprint of the League was not only in keeping up with the election campaign, but also created on me
a new enthusiasm and a new perception of my life and planning my future at a family, associative,
political and professional level. Khira says: “I came at the second place with my independent list in the
2019 legislative elections, and right from there begun my enjoyable and beneficial journey with the
Tunisian Women Voters League, who provided me and the rest of the female candidates with a valuable
knowledge.
It empowered me to impose myself and my electoral program on a scene where men’s voice was raised
above the female candidate. My only tool was my persistence and my hope for change. With the League, I
acquired an estimable amount of knowledge and tools that enabled me to go through my experience
peer-to- peer with no complex. Khira emphasizes with confidence and certainty:
“The League helped me over- come all my weaknesses, in political communication, discussion with the
voter and presenting the electoral program, as well as facing the voter whom I did not know the reaction
in every region I visited, so I tried to have an enriched and diverse performance to get the voter’s
attention and prevent him from getting bored. The League knew how to prepare us for the elections,
which my entourage considers to be a field reserved only for men.”
