Leila Ben Salah Ayachi

Tunis Governorate

is an employee and civil society activist, an advisor at the Municipality of Rawed, and a Party candidate
for the 2019 legislative elections, for Ariana district Leila says that her experience with the League Of
Tunisian Women Voters started in 2012 by attending several trainings in different fields: among them are
political communication and advocacy.

During the municipal elections of 2018 and the legislative elections of 2019, the League contacted the
parties and invited their female candidates to participate in a series of training courses that was provided
for the benefit of women candidates for the elections. Leila won the municipal elections, and she is now
the chairperson of Women and Family Committee at the municipality of Rawed. In the legislative
elections, she has gone through this experience, but it was unsuccessful.

This instead has strengthened her desire to continue running for all the elected councils in the future.
Layla says: “I had a training in the political field within my par- ty, but with the League I gained greater
political maturity thanks to the gen- der-related axes and leadership developed according to the needs of
women leaders. I consequently became more fluent and more familiar with the various laws organizing
the elections and how to present myself and my program to the voters. The League accompanied me all
over the elections and found all the support, encouragement and clarification to all my inquiries. The
League was and still is my support.”
